Last Christmas, we had to share 3 fun facts about ourselves during the office party. At that point, I realised that I didn’t have even 1 fact off the top of my head to share about myself. That’s why I put a little bit of thought into it and decided to list down 10 fun facts.
1. I’m a beverage goblin.
At any given moment, my desk will have at least 3 beverages. Usually, it’s water to hydrate myself, coffee to give me the energy boost I need, and tea to keep me zen. Sometimes I switch it up or even have extra beverages.
2. I need at least 8 hours of sleep per night to function well.
No matter what science says, my body needs at least 8 hours of rest so that I can wake up refreshed and become a functioning member of society. Without enough sleep, I’ll either be cranky, sarcastic, unfiltered, or all three.
3. I’m a picky eater.
I thoroughly filter the food on my plate. Food like taugeh (bean sprouts) and coriander are big no-nos. There’s a LONG list of food I have strong opinions about, but I never complain about food. I just silently pick them out.
4. I have a sweet tooth.
Even though I’m selective about my food, I never say no to sweet treats. Even if I’m really full to the point of being in a food coma, I’d still have room for dessert if offered.
5. I am a careful careless person.
For someone who tries to be overly cautious, I have injured myself a little too much. As of today, I have fractured about 6 bones and bruised a lot of other body parts. I guess it’s proof that I’m living a full life.
6. I LOVE travelling.
When I travel, I explore the local way of life; eating street food, going shopping at kedai runcits, and even taking public transport. I try to be respectful because as a Malaccan, I know how it feels when tourists take up our space.
7. I like learning about different cultures.
Since I was a child, I’ve been interested in learning about different cultures. Through immersing myself in various cultures, I’ve also picked up the basics of a few languages, including Japanese, Spanish, German, and Thai.
8. My life revolves around planets.
When I was 11, I represented my school for a state-level astronomy quiz. Now, I’m into astrology instead. The knowledge I gained from studying for that quiz really helps me till today in the most unexpected ways.
9. I was featured in the local newspaper when I was younger.
My passion for writing started young. In addition to being the founding member of the school press, I was featured a few times in the New Straits Times’ Niexter pullout.
10. Singing puts me in a good mood.
When I’m sad, angry, or depressed, singing always makes things better. There’s something about belting out songs explaining exactly how you’re feeling. Sometimes, I even have a car or shower karaoke session on my own.
