Truth hurts
But it’s better than falling into
A beautiful dream
And waking up to cruel reality
Which feels like a hard thud
Of you falling from your bed
Face first.

However nicely you treat someone
Doesn’t guarantee you being treated
Nicely by them
You feed a snake,
The next day,
You’re the snake’s feed.

Likewise,
If you try to rescue a struggling ant
From drowning in running water,
It repays you by biting your hand.

Not every kind gesture
Gets repaid by another
Sometimes life teaches us
That the world is unfair.

At the end of the day,
The stone that is used to build
Magnificent mansions and fortresses
Would be thrown and kicked around
By the same humans that take shelter
In those mansions and fortresses
Once the stones have no use for them.

Just goes to show you,
Life has its twisted ways;
From useless to useful
Right back to useless,
We are all temporary.
