I went to my first ever concert and it was AMAZING! Qeera and I went for the first night of Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism Tour (shoutout to her for winning the ticket war for us).
Since I wasn’t really a hardcore fan, I wasn’t sure of the dresscode, so I dressed up as if I was going to a 2010 Adam Lambert Glam Nation Tour concert. Thankfully, my pleather jacket, glitzy scrunchie, and fishnet stockings somehow fit the theme.
The location was Axiata indoor stadium, but we somehow mistakenly assumed it was the outdoor stadium instead. It was rainy so we bought raincoats (we went on a whole scavenger hunt before getting one at the 7-Eleven in KL Sentral), only for them to be confiscated at the entrance.
There was no opening act; we just had to wait for the main event. Not that we were complaining. We also watched some of the Service 95 ads playing onscreen while waiting for the show to start.
The whole concert atmosphere was surreal and Dua Lipa was ethereal. At one point, I just sat there just staring at how pretty and talented she was.
I went in just as a casual Dua Lipa listener. Like yeah, I knew some of the hits. But I came out of the stadium a fan. Yeah, she was AMAZING. So much energy, so poised, but still fun. And the crowd was so into it, which made it even better.
The setlist was great too — someone made a playlist on Spotify (not mine) and I’ve been looping it ever since. It’s my way of reliving the concert experience, I guess.
Overall, it was a 10/10 experience (even though I’m still salty about the raincoat).
