I’ve always been under the impression that when you spend, the money will come back to you multiple fold. Not sure if it was just my grandparents justifying their spoiling me as a child, but to me, I kinda believe in it. You see, I’ve seen this happen to me my whole life.
As someone who never got pocket money for school growing up, I had to save the extra money that came as change from fees and buying stuff in school (thank the gods my parents hate carrying small change). Whenever I use what little money I had, I usually would get it back some other way.
Okay, for example, when I’ve successfully saved about RM30 and decide to buy a book (back then it was enough to buy a book), I’d either find some money under my bed or get extra money from the parents or grandparents for being good. That’s just the way it is.

That’s why now that I’m generating my own money, I still keep to these principles. Money is meant to be spent. You can’t just keep it in your bank account for nothing. Yes, I know savings are important, but overdoing it is also not good. Let me put it this way: my money would be crying if I don’t use at least a little bit of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I see this as a blessing, but sometimes, it could manifest as a curse too. If I’m particularly thrifty during a certain month in anticipation of making a bigger purchase the following month, I’d have some kind of emergency or something would happen that requires me to spend some money anyway.
To avoid these, I save extra money, allocating some to spend on myself. I know, it’s giving ✨goddess of abundance✨ and I’m all for it!
